The Ladder
The operator · runs the silo

The Advisor.

The person who runs an entire silo — has done the work, vets every Provider, and only wins when the Company does.

What it is

Not a manager. An operator who's done the work.

The Advisor runs a silo end to end. They're not a salaried middle layer routing tickets, and they're not a generalist consultant renting advice by the hour. They're someone who has actually done the work in the category — and now sets the standard for everyone who operates inside it.

Because they've sat in the Company's chair, they can tell a real fix from a good pitch. That judgment is the whole product. The silo is only as trustworthy as the person running it.

The anatomy

What an Advisor is made of.

Four things, and all four have to be present. Miss one and the seat doesn't hold.

01 · Credibility

Has done the work

Real operating history in the category — not a certificate. The reason a Company believes them and a Provider respects the bar.

02 · Judgment

Reads before they prescribe

Runs the Current-State Read by hand — a human diagnostic of what's actually broken, not a ranking engine guessing who to upsell.

03 · Skin in the game

Paid by stake, not hours

Holds a share of the outcome, so they only win when the Company wins. Alignment is structural, not a promise on a slide.

04 · The network

Owns the relationships

Carries the trust and the rolodex inside the category. They're the reason the right Providers and Companies show up at all.

Why it exists

Someone has to be accountable for the truth.

Every marketplace eventually faces one question: who decides what's good? Amazon hands that to an algorithm and quietly upsells whoever pays. We hand it to a person who's done the work and whose pay depends on being right.

That's the un-copyable part. A giant can automate a ranking engine. It can't automate a credible human with skin in the game. The Advisor is where "transparent, not extractive" stops being a value and becomes a job description.

Your job here

What an Advisor actually does.

The role, four moves — run on repeat, they grow a silo from one chain to a category.

1

Diagnose — run the Current-State Read

Sit with a Company and map what's actually broken before anyone sells anything. The read is the trust; the placement is downstream of it.

Advisor + Company
2

Vet — set and hold the Provider bar

Decide who's good enough to be introduced, and keep the standard honest. A Provider gets in because the Advisor stakes their name on them.

Advisor ↔ Providers
3

Approve — every Placement passes through judgment

No introduction goes out that the Advisor wouldn't make themselves. Human judgment is the gate, not a click-through funnel.

4

Grow — build the silo, bring Affiliates up

Turn one chain into many: recruit and mentor Affiliates, expand the category, and make the silo run without needing to touch every deal.

Advisor grows · Affiliates scale it
The one thing to remember

An algorithm gets paid no matter who it points you to. An Advisor only gets paid when you actually win.
